Published on February 28, 2026, in the Rules and Sport section of Italia Oggi, a comment by Fabio Pennisi on the decision of the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) Federal Court on the unlawful exclusion of three players from the roster of a club playing in the Serie D championship.
The football club had decided, without disciplinary reasons, that the three players would not only be excluded from official matches (which would fall within technical discretion), but also from training on an equal footing with the other athletes.
The Court found that this conduct constituted a violation of the national collective agreement governing coordinated and continuous sports work collaborations in the amateur sector pursuant to Article 28 of Legislative Decree No. 36/2021, as well as various provisions of the FIGC code of sports justice.
For this reason, the president, general manager, and sporting director were sanctioned with suspensions of up to six months, as was the club for objective liability.
The article also briefly examines the potential compensation implications of the conduct.
